Position: Staff Engineer

As a Staff Engineer at amber, you are more than just a developer. You are a technical leader who drives innovation and shapes the future of our products and engineering teams.

In this role, you’ll work hands-on with complex software systems while defining architectural direction, ensuring scalability, and setting new standards for code quality. Your day-to-day will range from designing solutions for high-impact challenges to mentoring engineers across teams and collaborating closely with product and design to deliver outstanding, user-centric technology.

Tasks

  • Shape the technical foundation and architecture of products that reach and impact thousands of users daily.
  • Evolve and scale our software systems to ensure long-term reliability, performance, and sustainability.
  • Guide engineering teams through complex technical choices, providing clarity and enabling delivery.
  • Set the standard for code quality, engineering best practices, and system performance across the organization.
  • Mentor and inspire engineers, fostering growth, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to turn ideas into robust, user-centric solutions.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence that drives both people and products forward.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in professional software engineering, including leading complex technical initiatives and delivering impactful projects.
  • Deep expertise in system architecture, scalable systems, and performance optimization.
  • Fluency in modern programming practices with hands-on experience across both frontend and backend technologies.
  • Proven track record of guiding engineering teams through technical trade-offs and high-stakes architectural decisions.
  • Ability to mentor and inspire engineers at all levels, fostering knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, disciplines, and stakeholders.
  • Passion for continuous learning and shaping an engineering culture that combines innovation with long-term sustainability.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and trends, with a critical approach to adoption and implementation.
