About Us

At The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx,
a modular and reusable orbital vehicle designed for in-orbit refuelling and cargo transport,
with the long-term vision of supporting human spaceflight.

Role Overview

Join us as a Software Engineer – Mission Control Software, where you will build
mission-critical systems that power integrated testing and mission operations.
You will primarily work on Mission Control Software and develop tools used by
flight controllers and engineering teams.

• Develop software supporting mission operations and testing
• Build tools for flight controllers and engineering teams
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of systems
• Contribute to mission-critical infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

• Develop robust software for testing and mission operations
• Contribute across the full software lifecycle (design to deployment)
• Build scalable systems supporting mission expansion
• Collaborate with testing, engineering, and operations teams
• Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Ensure system reliability through automated testing and validation
• Support users and improve tooling and workflows
• Mentor junior engineers and strengthen engineering culture

Requirements

• Backend experience with Python and/or Ruby (Rails)
• Frontend experience with modern frameworks (React, Vue.js, or similar)
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• Experience with message brokers (Redis Streams, Kafka)
• Experience in real-time data processing systems
• Familiarity with object storage (MinIO, AWS S3)
• Version control experience (Git)
• Experience with automated testing frameworks
• Ability to build and maintain distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns and best practices
• Experience in agile environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail with balanced delivery speed
• Motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with relational or time-series databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with containerization and CI/CD pipelines
• Background in space or safety-critical industries
