Senior Manager, Software Engineering

About the Role

As an Engineering Leader at Walmart Global Tech, you’ll be at the forefront of building core platforms and services that enable Walmart to deliver exceptional customer experiences. The Marketplace Engineering team is focused on enabling third-party sellers to successfully sell and manage their products on Walmart.com. You’ll lead engineering teams to support the entire seller lifecycle, deliver valuable insights, and ensure the best experience for both sellers and customers.

What You’ll Do

• Manage multiple frontend and backend engineering teams to establish and maintain a top-notch engineering culture, including career development, transparency, and industry standards.
• Mentor and provide development opportunities for team members, ensuring diversity and fostering a positive team environment.
• Promote and support company policies and ethical standards while driving compliance and transparency in operations.
• Direct root cause analysis of critical issues to improve business and production operations.
• Focus on engineering velocity and technical metrics like availability and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering peers, leaders, and business stakeholders to identify solutions to both technical and business challenges.
• Lead the discovery and design phases of large projects, partnering with various teams to validate ideas and create high-level designs.
• Drive execution of business plans, remove obstacles, and adjust performance to meet objectives and customer needs.
• Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of current plans and initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of experience in full-stack software development (frontend, backend, data insights, and hands-on coding).
• 3+ years of people leadership experience, with proven success in building and leading engineering teams.
• Technical leadership in core front-end, orchestration, and database services that are highly reliable, flexible, and scalable.
• Experience in designing and developing large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Strong design and architectural skills.
• Proven ability to earn respect, trust, and influence from colleagues and mentor top technical talent.
• Experience in the eCommerce domain is highly desirable.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 – $286,000.00, with additional compensation through performance bonuses, stock options, and more.
