Position Overview: Automation Engineering

Automation Engineering is responsible for providing technical support to the manufacturing and logistics buildings at the Frederick Manufacturing Center (FMC). This includes troubleshooting, modifications, and improvements to automation, data management/storage systems, and networks related to process, utility, and support equipment and systems.

Accountabilities

  • Advanced knowledge of electronic theory and its application.
  • Applied knowledge of batch manufacturing per ISA S88 standards.
  • Advanced understanding of instrumentation and control loop programming.
  • Experience with FactoryTalk Batch Software.
  • Experience with OSI PI historian including OPC Da, OPC UA.
  • Subject matter expert within two or more of the following:
    • PLC systems, particularly Rockwell Automation.
    • Distributed control systems, particularly Emerson DeltaV.
    • Control network.
    • VFD and motor control systems.
    • IT infrastructure.
  • Advanced understanding of programming concepts.
  • Revise, review, and approve electrical control panel electrical drawings.
  • Ability to retrieve and analyze process data.
  • Train engineers in site control systems.
  • Project manager for medium-to-large capital projects.
  • Advanced understanding of data analytics.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and computer system validation principles.
  • Subject matter expert in risk assessment and mitigation.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • BS/BA in Engineering or Life Sciences.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Practical working knowledge of PLC systems (Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk suite of software) or distributed control systems (Emerson DeltaV).

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years of industry experience.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $97,372.00 to $146,058.00. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

In addition, our positions offer:

  • Short-term incentive bonus opportunity.
