About the Role
We are seeking a Sales Engineer – Banking to join our EMEA Solutions Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the technical sales process across banking opportunities throughout Western and Central Europe.
This is a specialist pre-sales position focused on supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 financial institutions. You will work closely with treasury teams, custody specialists, CISOs, risk committees, and technology leaders to demonstrate how Fireblocks integrates into institutional banking environments and supports digital asset initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical qualification for banking opportunities, identifying high-value digital asset programmes.
- Deliver tailored product demonstrations to both technical and executive stakeholders across custody, treasury, settlement, and compliance use cases.
- Scope, design, and deliver Proof of Concepts (PoCs), including API integrations, sandbox environments, and security reviews.
- Prepare and manage responses to RFPs, RFIs, and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs).
- Present Fireblocks’ security architecture to CISOs, Chief Risk Officers, risk committees, and senior banking executives.
- Translate institutional banking requirements into scalable Fireblocks solution architectures.
- Collaborate directly with banking technology teams on API integrations, middleware, and operational workflows.
- Partner with Sales Directors to develop technical account strategies from initial engagement through implementation.
- Support competitive sales opportunities by positioning Fireblocks against alternative custody and digital asset solutions.
- Represent customer feedback in product discussions and contribute to future roadmap development.
- Create reusable technical assets, including reference architectures, solution briefs, and PoC templates.
- Support the transition from pre-sales to Professional Services to ensure successful customer onboarding.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and enablement across the EMEA Solutions Engineering team.
Skills & Experience
- 3–8 years’ experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting within banking, financial market infrastructure, or capital markets.
- Experience supporting complex enterprise sales cycles involving Tier 1 or Tier 2 financial institutions.
- Proven experience designing and delivering technical Proofs of Concept within regulated banking environments.
- Experience preparing RFP, RFI, and procurement responses while working with legal, procurement, and information security teams.
- Exposure to blockchain, tokenisation, digital assets, or cryptocurrency initiatives within financial services.
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of institutional banking architecture, including core banking platforms such as Temenos, Finastra, Murex, Calypso, or similar solutions.
- Knowledge of custody infrastructure, settlement platforms, and post-trade processing.
- Familiarity with financial messaging standards including ISO 20022 and SWIFT MT/MX.
- Experience discussing API-based integrations with engineering and middleware teams.
- Understanding of cryptographic key management, Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), or MPC/TSS architectures.
- Awareness of European regulatory frameworks such as MiCA and DORA relating to digital assets.
Personal Attributes
- Confident engaging with senior banking stakeholders including CISOs, CTOs, Heads of Digital Assets, treasury leaders, and business executives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of enterprise sales processes.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
- Additional European language skills are advantageous.
Compensation
For employees based in Germany, the estimated base salary for this position is €80,000–€110,000 per year.
In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may include a performance bonus, competitive equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits programme. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
