The Role

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing PPRO’s global payments platform by driving technical innovation, building scalable solutions, and ensuring robust system architecture.

You will help shape the future of our payment infrastructure by delivering secure, reliable, and high-performance systems that directly support customer success and strengthen PPRO’s position as a leader in the payments industry.

Your Responsibilities

• Design & Build Scalable Payment Systems
  • Design and develop scalable, high-performance distributed systems.
  • Build solutions using Java and Kotlin within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Ensure platform reliability, resilience, and scalability.
• Drive Engineering Excellence
  • Champion engineering best practices across teams.
  • Promote high standards for software quality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Ensure sustainable and efficient software delivery processes.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product, Partnerships, Compliance, and other business teams.
  • Align technical solutions with strategic business objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentorship & Leadership
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration.
  • Support the professional growth of engineers across the organization.
• Ownership of Production Systems
  • Take ownership of code quality, deployment processes, and production monitoring.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Distributed Systems Expertise
  • Proven experience designing and building distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Java & Kotlin Development
  • Expert-level experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
  • Strong software engineering and system design capabilities.
• AWS Cloud Experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as:

  • Kinesis
  • SQS
  • DynamoDB
  • RDS
• Technical Leadership
  • Strong track record of mentoring and leading engineering teams.
  • Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
• Communication Skills
