We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer (f/m/d) to join our team as we develop hardware for

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Design, build, and test thermal control systems for ion-trap quantum devices.
  • Design, build, and test electronic enclosure assemblies for ion-trap quantum devices.
  • Integrate mechanical designs with laser systems and electronics.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Physicists, and Quantum Engineers.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and reporting of progress and issues.
  • Engage in project planning, risk management, and scheduling activities.

Requirements

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates:

  • Experience in the design and build of thermal management systems.
  • Experience in the design and build of electronic enclosure assemblies.
  • Experience developing complex models to simulate thermal management systems.

Must-have Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a competitive engineering environment.
  • Strong experience designing mechanical systems, including thermal management systems and electronic enclosures.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD for mechanical and structural design.
  • Experience using CAE tools for thermal and mechanical FEA, including stress and strain analysis.
  • Experience in thermal and mechanical testing methods.
  • Understanding of materials science and its impact on vacuum and thermal systems.
  • Experience working with and managing suppliers and contractors.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a strong team player.
  • An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Experience designing and building vacuum systems.
  • Experience designing and building cryogenic systems.
  • Experience in vibrational and resonance modelling.
  • Experience in fatigue and creep analysis.
  • Experience using SolidWorks and Ansys.
