(Mechanical) Engineer

Join xolo – Transforming Manufacturing with Xolography

Location: Berlin, Full-Time (40h/week)

We are xolo—a Berlin-based deep-science startup revolutionizing manufacturing through Xolography. Our proprietary volumetric 3D printing technology enables smooth-surface, ultra-fast, and high-performance part creation in sectors where traditional 3D printing couldn’t reach.

We’re not just building machines—we’re pushing the limits of what spatial printing can do. If you’re passionate about creating real change in tech and want to join a team that values intellectual rigor, ownership, speed, honesty, and joy, read on.

Your Role: (Mechanical) Engineer

Tasks:

  • Drive hands-on hardware development to bring volumetric 3D printing to life.
  • Assemble, test, and refine prototype and production xolography machines.
  • Modify, align, and optimize LED and laser-based projection systems.
  • Build and iterate multiple system versions, improving mechanical, optical, and electronic subsystems.
  • Translate technical concepts into functioning systems using mechanical assembly, wiring, alignment, and debugging skills.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, partners, and in-house experts to integrate both off-the-shelf and custom components.

What You Bring

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.
  • Degree or background in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, optical engineering, or a related field.
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration skills—comfortable working with engineers, developers, and scientists alike.
  • Ability to independently take ideas from concept to prototype to functional system.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a love for experimentation.

Bonus Skills (Not Required, But a Plus):

  • Experience at a leading 3D printing company.
  • Hands-on work with lightsheets.
  • Proficiency in CAD design.
  • Strong optics and laser technology knowledge.
  • Good sense of humor (yes, it matters!).

What We Offer

  • Work directly with world-class scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
  • Be part of a rare, high-impact European deep-science startup.
  • Opportunity to shape a groundbreaking new technology at an early stage.
  • High personal impact and autonomy in decision-making.
  • Dynamic, intellectually curious team that values experimentation over titles.

This is your chance to help define a new paradigm in manufacturing—no layers, no limits. If you’re ready to help build the future of light-based manufacturing, apply now and let’s make something remarkable together.
