Junior Backend Engineer – Data Marketplace

Backend Engineer (Early Career)

Location: Berlin HQ or Iași Hub (Hybrid Work Model)

Relocation: Not provided

About the Role

Taktile is a high-growth startup on a fast trajectory to becoming the market leader in automated decisioning. As an early-career Backend Engineer, you will help enhance our Data Marketplace and integration engine—critical systems that support millions of automated decisions every day. Your work will empower banks, fintechs, and enterprises to fight fraud, expand credit, and improve financial access.

This is an ideal opportunity to grow your backend engineering skills, gain experience in building robust, scalable APIs, and work with modern cloud infrastructure, while contributing to real-world impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain backend components in Python on AWS, learning best practices in testing, code quality, and CI/CD.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Data Marketplace—help onboard new data providers, implement versioning strategies, and improve integration timelines and reliability.
  • Work with API contracts, SDKs, and resilience patterns (e.g., retries, backoff, idempotency).
  • Participate in full project lifecycles—from discovery to production launch—including RFCs, prototyping, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Support performance and reliability efforts, including dashboards, SLOs, instrumentation, and latency improvements.
  • Learn from senior engineers through mentorship, pair programming, and design reviews.
  • Collaborate across functions with Product, Security, and Customer teams to deliver robust backend solutions.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)—essential for hybrid communication.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience programming in Python (projects, internships, or coursework).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • Experience with serverless or event-driven architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, SQS, Kafka).
  • Basic observability practices—metrics, tracing, structured logs.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development and code generation tools.
  • Exposure to fintech (e.g., KYC, fraud APIs, credit bureau integrations).
  • Open-source contributions or personal projects in backend development.

Our Offer

  • Work in a collaborative team with experienced engineers, founders, and industry leaders.
  • Flat hierarchy and direct access to leadership—your voice is valued.
  • Top-of-market compensation including salary and equity (VSOP).
  • Generous self-development budget for conferences, books, or courses.
  • High-end equipment: New Apple MacBook Pro and home office setup.
