PLC Software Engineer – Robotics

About the Role

Join our hardware development team and contribute to building state-of-the-art autonomous robots and lift trucks. In this role, you’ll work closely with low-level software developers and functional safety engineers to realize fully functional, production-grade robotics systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Implement safe and non-safe low-level software modules in our existing framework, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Create detailed specifications for complex software modules, including interfaces and test criteria, for both internal and external development.
  • Perform functional testing and troubleshooting directly on hardware prototypes and production robots.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for your work packages, ensuring timely delivery and high quality.
  • Support products from prototype to series production, testing and documenting all changes along the way.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PLC software development and hardware-software integration.
  • Strong PLC programming skills in CODESYS / IEC 61131–3 for safe control systems with SIL/PL certification.
  • Experience specifying and validating software modules, ideally using the V‑model and in accordance with ISO 13849–1.
  • Good knowledge of field buses, ideally CANopen, and sensor-actuator integration.
  • Ideally, experience in:
    • Unit testing for CODESYS Scripting Engine
    • Programming in Python, C++
    • Relevant standards: ISO 3691–4, EN 1175, EN ISO 13849
  • Structured, autonomous working style with the ability to manage cross-team dependencies.
  • Comfortable with writing technical documentation and using software version control.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
  • This role is mostly on-site – candidates should ideally be based in or near Munich.
