We are a team of approximately 100 employees, profitable, and have raised €18M in funding. Our headquarters are located in Berlin.

We are currently hiring a Director of Engineering to lead the operational side of our Engineering organization. In this role, you will partner closely with the CTO on strategy, oversee people leadership across all engineering squads, and build the structures required to scale effectively.

Who We Want

  • Experienced Engineering Leader:
    5+ years of experience leading engineering teams within B2B SaaS or product-led organizations.
  • Scaling Experience:
    Proven track record of guiding teams through growth and scaling phases while identifying organizational and technical breakpoints early.
  • Technically Credible:
    Strong technical background with experience at Senior+, Staff, or similar levels, including the ability to read code and contribute to technical architecture discussions.
  • Builder of Engineering Systems:
    Experience building and operating career frameworks, calibration systems, and performance management processes with consistency and discipline.
  • Strategic Communicator:
    Ability to translate company strategy into clear quarterly objectives and actionable execution plans.
  • High Standards, Low Ego:
    Builder mentality with strong standards, collaborative leadership style, and the ability to lead by example rather than hierarchy.
  • Execution-Focused:
    Structured and calm leadership approach with the ability to improve operational discipline without slowing down teams.

  • Hands-On Architect First:
    Candidates primarily focused on coding or directly owning architecture decisions instead of scaling engineering organizations.
  • Dependent on Large Support Structures:
    Leaders who rely heavily on established HR or People Operations structures for hiring, performance management, and team development.
  • First-Time Engineering Managers:
    Individuals without prior experience leading and scaling engineering teams and organizations.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with Engineering Managers and senior engineers to support growth, alignment, and execution.
  • Performance Management:
    Lead performance reviews, growth conversations, and calibration sessions across the engineering organization.
  • Hiring & Organizational Design:
    Own key hiring activities including interviewing, organizational planning, and candidate closing processes.
  • Technical Investments:
    Sponsor and prioritize technical debt reduction and long-term architectural improvements.
  • Delivery Oversight:
    Monitor squad delivery progress, identify blockers early, and maintain a high engineering quality standard.
  • Strategic Collaboration:
    Work closely with the CTO on organizational design, hiring strategy, and headcount planning.
  • Capacity & Roadmap Planning:
    Coordinate engineering capacity planning and roadmap priorities together with the CPO.
