Onshore Electrical Facility Engineer

Location: United States (Shell Midstream Operations)

About the Role

As an Onshore Electrical Facility Engineer with Shell Midstream, you’ll ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of crude oil, chemicals, and product transportation assets. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team protecting Shell’s License to Operate and reputation by minimizing downtime, supporting system integrity, and enhancing equipment reliability through defect elimination and root cause analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for electrical and automation systems across onshore chemical and product transportation assets.
  • Act as a primary troubleshooting resource for electrical and automation equipment.
  • Deliver emergency support as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Support the annual review and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies and practices.
  • Implement reliability strategies aligned with performance and safety standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase profitability and operational efficiency.

What We Need from You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, preferably in midstream or industrial settings.
  • Strong technical understanding of control systems and electrical distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, API).
  • Working knowledge of PLCs (especially Allen Bradley ControlLogix), SCADA systems, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with equipment such as motors, switchgear (13.8kV and below), control valves, tank gauging, fire & gas detection, and transformers.
  • Comfortable with interpreting and using electrical testing equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range: $101,000 – $151,000 per year

Individual pay will be based on factors such as education, experience, certifications, and location. In addition to a competitive salary, Shell offers:
