Role Overview:

We are hiring a Desktop Technician (Band 2) for our client site located at Lichtstrasse 35, WSJ-210, 4056 Basel. The role involves providing local and remote IT support across hardware, software, and business applications in a professional enterprise environment.

This position requires strong communication skills in German (minimum B2 level) and hands-on experience in troubleshooting, ticket management, and resolving IT issues within SLA targets.

Key tasks include Break-Fix support, desktop imaging, basic network troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. Full training and onboarding will be provided by a local DSS Peer or Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 & 2 support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot Windows OS (XP to Windows 11), MS Office, and other enterprise software.
  • Log, manage, and resolve IT support tickets within agreed SLAs.
  • Support setup and configuration of devices (PC & Mac).
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for issue resolution (especially AV systems).
  • Perform hardware repairs and preventive maintenance on desktop/laptop/printer devices.
  • Assist in IT deployments and system rollouts (may involve off-hours or weekend work).
  • Provide basic network and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Participate in IT project-based tasks as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or higher.
  • Minimum 18 months of hands-on experience in IT/Desktop Support.
  • Proficient in:
    • Windows OS (7 to 11), Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO)
    • Imaging & deployment tools, antivirus, encryption, ticketing systems
    • Basic knowledge of:
    • Mac OS support
    • Networking, AV systems, servers, and smart devices
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • German language skills at B2 level or higher.
