Group / Division

The Global Products Group (GPG) creates all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products. The LS-SWIFT Division provides patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. LS (Laser Scanning) systems enable cost-effective patterned wafer defect detection, and SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Throughput) systems deliver all-wafer-surface inspection. LS-SWIFT operates globally in the US, Singapore, India, and Germany.

Job Description / Responsibilities

The LS-SWIFT Division seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Optomechanical Design team. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop mechanical subassemblies covering the complete design process from requirements specification to feasibility studies
  • Conduct analysis and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design, and drawing using ProE
  • Procure and inspect prototype parts, assemble prototypes, and perform system integration and testing
  • Analytical and experimental validation and optimization of challenging mechanisms and optomechanical designs

Required Qualifications

  • Solid mechanical engineering fundamentals: design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with FEA – structural, thermal, and CFD (beginner to expert level)
  • Hands-on lab testing, automated data acquisition, and data analysis
  • Experience with CAD, preferably Pro Engineer, and FEA packages (preferably ANSYS)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in precision mechanics, mechanisms, nano motion actuators, optomechanical systems, optics, and optics alignment
  • Design experience in semiconductor equipment or similar instruments
  • PCB packaging and thermal analysis, machine tools, motion controls, data acquisition, and measurement instrumentation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Level Degree with 3 years related experience, or
  • Bachelor’s Level Degree with 6 years related experience

  • Base Pay Range: $92,400 – $157,100 annually

Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Actual pay depends on factors including state minimum wage, location, skills, experience, and education.
