The Role

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join the ClickHouse Core team. This remote position is open to candidates based in the Netherlands, Germany, or the United Kingdom.

As one of the first members of our Reliability Engineering team, you will play a key role in improving the reliability, scalability, availability, and performance of ClickHouse Cloud. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Security, Operations, Support, Control Plane, and Data Plane teams to build resilient systems and continuously improve the customer experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Continuously improve the reliability, availability, and performance of the ClickHouse platform.
  • Develop and enhance monitoring, metrics, and alerting systems to proactively identify and prevent production issues.
  • Investigate recurring customer issues, identify root causes, and contribute bug fixes and platform improvements.
  • Lead and improve incident response processes, post-incident reviews, and blameless postmortems.
  • Partner with Engineering, Support, and Cloud teams to resolve incidents and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Drive chaos engineering initiatives to improve platform resilience.
  • Manage and enhance on-call processes, escalation procedures, and operational best practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Quality Assurance, or customer-facing engineering roles.
  • Experience operating ClickHouse or other SQL database technologies in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of distributed database systems and SQL.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Shell or Python, along with the ability to read and understand C++ code.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Excellent production troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
