Software Engineer – Identity Team
As a Software Engineer in the Identity team at SumUp, you’ll help deliver best-in-class authentication experiences and account protection to millions of users around the globe. You’ll also contribute to central services that support SumUp’s teams and products company-wide.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Adaptable, proactive, and eager to take ownership
- Primarily focused on backend development in Go, with openness to work across web, infrastructure, and mobile as needed
- Comfortable joining a cross-functional team with a broad scope and a strong engineering culture
You’ll have the freedom to pick projects that interest you and the flexibility to shift gears when needed. You’ll also have the opportunity to own projects end-to-end—from requirements gathering and solution design to implementation and rollout.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate on designing and building scalable APIs (e.g., next-gen User and Permission APIs)
- Evolve authentication and authorization services for internal and external users
- Enhance app and SDK security to prevent fraud and account takeovers
- Build user-friendly self-service features for account and preference management
- Partner with distributed teams and stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure systems
- Enjoy doing work that matters, surrounded by people who care
You’ll Be Great for This Role If You Have
- Experience in backend or fullstack development, ideally with Go
- Familiarity with languages like TypeScript, Ruby, Java, Kotlin, or Swift is a plus
- Interest in security, reliability, and technologies like OAuth and Multi-Factor Authentication
- A quick learning mindset and adaptability in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across teams
- A drive for improving systems and processes—pragmatic but ambitious
- Confidence using tools or seeking help when needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
