Who You Are

We are seeking a highly motivated and structured (Senior) SOX Internal Controls Specialist to strengthen
our growing team. This role is critical to maintaining and enhancing Verve’s internal control framework
and plays a key role in shaping our approach to finance and corporate governance.

You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across the organization to identify, assess, and monitor
risks while continuously improving our internal control environment.

Work model: Hybrid (3 days per week) in our Berlin or Hamburg offices
Contract: 1-year fixed-term (with the possibility of extension to a permanent role)

What You Will Do

  • Design, implement, and test internal controls in accordance with SOX / PCAOB standards
  • Assess control design and operating effectiveness and evaluate findings against internal control frameworks and financial reporting standards
  • Prepare and maintain audit documentation, including working papers and summary reports
  • Coordinate with external auditors, providing timely documentation and responses
  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance, IT, Legal, and HR on findings and remediation actions
  • Assess the impact of business process changes and evolving risks on the control environment
  • Identify control gaps and support the implementation of new or improved processes
  • Apply best practices to standardize processes and controls across subsidiaries
  • Act proactively to drive continuous improvement and foster strong cross-functional collaboration

Job Requirements

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience for Mid-level or 6+ years for Senior-level candidates in audit, internal controls, advisory, or similar roles
  • Mandatory experience with SOX or PCAOB (minimum 2 years)
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP (highly desirable)
  • Proven experience testing internal controls, documenting results, and communicating findings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive, collaborative mindset
  • Professional certifications (CIA, ACCA, CISA, or equivalent) completed or in progress are a plus
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or Lucanet is a plus
