The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Machine Learning Engineer – Perception to help build the real-time perception systems that power autonomous heavy machinery.

You’ll work on advanced computer vision, multimodal sensor fusion, and deep learning technologies that enable intelligent machines to understand and operate safely in challenging, unstructured environments. Working closely with robotics, AI, and software engineering teams, you’ll help deliver production-ready autonomy solutions.

What You’ll Do

Perception & Deep Learning

• Design and develop deep learning models for 3D perception, including object detection, semantic segmentation, and occupancy prediction.
• Build high-performance perception systems for autonomous heavy equipment.

Sensor Fusion

• Develop multimodal neural networks combining LiDAR, radar, and camera data.
• Improve environmental understanding for off-highway autonomous vehicles.

Physical AI

• Contribute to Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models that combine perception with language-based reasoning.
• Support the development of next-generation Physical AI capabilities.

Model Optimisation

• Optimise training and inference pipelines for real-time deployment on NVIDIA edge GPUs.
• Deploy efficient models using technologies such as TensorRT, ONNX, and Jetson/Orin platforms.

Data & Evaluation

• Lead perception data initiatives including data pipelines, dataset curation, model evaluation, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with robotics and autonomy teams to integrate perception into the complete autonomous driving stack.

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Extensive experience with PyTorch.
• Expertise in 3D perception and multimodal sensor fusion using LiDAR, radar, and cameras.
• Experience deploying deep learning models on embedded hardware for real-time inference.
• Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and autonomous systems.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of transformer-based perception architectures or Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models.
• Experience with Bird’s-Eye View (BEV) perception and multitask learning.
• Experience using C++, ROS, and MMDetection.
• Experience developing perception systems for off-road or adverse-weather environments.
• Research publications or significant industry experience in autonomous driving, robotics, or deep learning.
