Director of Sales

We’re looking for a Director of Sales to lead and grow a high-performing team of 5–7 Account Executives.

Reporting directly to the AVP of Sales, you’ll be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing sales strategy, coaching your team, and strengthening relationships with enterprise customers across the DACH region. This role is ideal for an experienced sales leader who thrives in high-growth environments and enjoys building scalable, customer-focused sales organizations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing sales team
    • Manage, mentor, and coach a team of 5–7 Account Executives.
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on learning, development, and results.
    • Support onboarding and ramp-up processes for new Account Executives.
  • Drive revenue growth
    • Own the performance, revenue, and execution of your sales organization.
    • Develop sales forecasts, territory strategies, and growth plans.
    • Monitor key sales metrics and implement initiatives to improve team performance.
  • Build cross-functional alignment
    • Partner closely with Marketing, Business Development, Customer Success, Sales Engineering, and Customer Engineering teams.
    • Ensure alignment across customer acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth initiatives.
  • Develop strategic customer relationships
    • Define and execute account strategies for Chainguard’s largest enterprise customers.
    • Support complex sales opportunities and executive-level customer engagements.

Your Profile

  • 6+ years of experience selling technical software solutions, preferably within open source, DevOps, or cybersecurity.
  • 3+ years of experience leading high-performing enterprise software sales teams.
  • Experience selling through Cloud Service Provider (CSP) marketplaces.
  • Demonstrated success achieving and exceeding revenue, pipeline, and sales performance targets.
  • Experience selling to Fortune 500 organizations.
  • Established enterprise customer relationships across the DACH region.
  • Experience using CRM platforms and marketing automation systems.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments while managing changing priorities.
  • Experience scaling organizations during periods of rapid growth is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
