As a Software Engineer, you will join as an early member of our growing Berlin engineering organization and play a key role in shaping the future of the Databricks platform.

Your Impact

You will work across backend engineering teams that develop critical platform services powering large-scale data and AI workloads.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Designing and building large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native services.
  • Developing high-performance, secure, and reliable backend services.
  • Building scalable service architectures and platform infrastructure.
  • Creating workflow orchestration and monitoring solutions.
  • Improving developer productivity and platform tooling.
  • Developing services and client libraries that manage and access massive datasets stored on cloud platforms.
  • Working with cloud storage providers such as:
    • AWS S3
    • Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
    • Azure Blob Storage
  • Designing and delivering product features that enable customers to efficiently store, access, and analyze their data.
  • Contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in:
    • Computer Science
    • Software Engineering
    • Or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong development experience in one or more of the following:
    • Java
    • Scala
    • C++
    • Or similar programming languages
  • Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms and/or Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and data processing concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and system design skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment.
