About the Risk Analytics Team

SumUp is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join the Risk Analytics Team within the Risk & Compliance Tribe.
This is a high-impact, technically demanding role where you will help ensure SumUp meets its regulatory obligations across European entities while building the data foundations that power fraud, chargeback, and compliance analytics.

The Risk Analytics Team sits at the intersection of data, regulation, and business integrity. The team is responsible for regulatory reporting across multiple European regulatory entities, as well as data products supporting fraud and chargeback analysis and broader Risk & Compliance initiatives.

Working closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Backend Engineers, you will deliver reliable, accurate, and scalable data solutions.

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will be a key technical leader within the team. Your work will directly influence the team’s ability to scale regulatory reporting, automate critical pipelines, and deliver trusted data products that support decision-making across the Risk & Compliance Tribe.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain complex data models that track merchant activity and deliver trusted data marts for accurate and timely regulatory reporting.
• Develop, improve, and maintain pipelines used to submit regulatory reports across European entities while ensuring compliance with varying reporting frequencies and governance requirements.
• Automate and optimize reporting processes to reduce manual effort and increase reliability.
• Develop and own data validation strategies required by regulators, ensuring all reports meet expected quality standards.
• Ensure all data products follow dbt best practices, coding standards, and style validations.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Backend Engineers to integrate data solutions accurately and reliably.
• Monitor and manage domain computing costs, proactively identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
• Create and maintain dashboards that provide clear visibility into pipeline performance and operational metrics.
• Contribute to a robust data infrastructure leveraging Git, Argo Workflows, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Enable self-service analytics capabilities for analysts and stakeholders across the business.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of professional experience in technology, startups, analytics, or data warehousing environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt, including project ownership, coding standards, best practices, and automated governance.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience designing, building, and maintaining complex data models in cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake.
• Experience developing and automating data pipelines using Python.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design scalable, reliable data products.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders across teams and business units.

• Experience with Data Mesh architecture.
• Experience within fintech environments and transactional data models.
• Experience with pipeline orchestration and scheduling tools.
• Experience working with AWS.
