Engineering Manager – Billing & Payments

About the Role

In the Billing & Payments Tribe, we design experiences that define how customers pay—and how partners get paid.

We are building a new engineering team and are looking for an Engineering Manager to shape it from the ground up.
This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys building high-performing, autonomous teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a distributed team of 5–6 engineers across multiple locations
  • Coach and mentor team members to support career growth and technical excellence
  • Foster strong feedback loops and continuous improvement
  • Create a safe, empowering environment with clear ownership
  • Partner with Product Management on goals, priorities, and OKRs
  • Own delivery commitments and improve team effectiveness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, DevOps, UX, InfoSec, etc.)
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management
  • Represent your team to stakeholders and contribute to engineering strategy

Your Skills & Expertise

Required

  • 8+ years in software engineering
  • 2+ years in an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role
  • Experience building and scaling distributed teams
  • Strong coaching mindset with a focus on people development
  • Domain knowledge in financial or payments systems
  • Solid technical foundation in architecture, system design, and best practices
  • Data-driven decision-making with focus on observability and learning
  • Interest in AI and emerging technologies
