(Senior) Data Engineer

Our Mission

Everyone should hear well to live well. That’s what drives us at audibene. We are on a mission to transform hearing care and improve the lives of our customers — and we need your help on this exciting journey.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to shape the future of hearing care through cutting-edge data infrastructure.

  • End-to-End Ownership. Take full responsibility for the complete data lifecycle — from ingestion and transformation to powering AI agents and LLMs via our semantic layer.
  • Build Data Products. Develop intelligent, AI-ready data products that enable automation and data-driven decision-making at scale.
  • Beyond Traditional Analytics. This is not just about dashboards — you’ll build the foundation for intelligent systems.

Your Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Engineering. Design and build high-performance data pipelines using Airflow, Snowflake, Pulsar, and Kubernetes.
  • AI-Optimized Data Products. Create data products tailored for AI agents and LLM consumption, where quality, context, and semantic richness are essential.
  • Machine-Readable Architecture. Structure data with rich metadata, clear lineage, and semantic clarity to power intelligent applications.
  • Semantic Modeling. Own the journey from raw ingestion to semantic modeling, ensuring data is contextually rich and agent-ready.
  • Best Practices. Champion standards for LLM-consumable data and evolve our dbt transformation layer.
  • AI-First Thinking. Build data products specifically designed for AI/LLM use cases — not just analytics reporting.

Your Profile

  • Experience. 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex ETL processes, large-scale data systems, and data modeling.
  • Cloud Data Warehouses. Production experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Python Expertise. Strong skills in building and optimizing data pipelines and transformations in Python.
  • Distributed Systems. Experience with columnar storage, MPP databases, and distributed data architectures.
  • Communication Skills. Ability to explain complex technical topics to engineers and business stakeholders alike.
  • Metadata & Semantics. Experience with semantic layers, data catalogs, or metadata management systems.
  • Modern Databases. Familiarity with Snowflake, BigQuery, ClickHouse, DuckDB, or similar analytical databases.
  • Streaming Technologies. Experience with Kafka, Pulsar, Redpanda, or Kinesis.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful Impact. Help customers hear better and improve their quality of life.
  • Hybrid Work Model. 4 days per week in our Berlin or Mainz office, 1 day remote.
  • Team Events. Regular on- and offline team events, company off-sites, and our annual Wandertag.
  • Mobility Support. Deutschland-Ticket fully covered.
  • Wellbeing. Access to 50,000+ gyms and wellness facilities via Urban Sports Club.
  • Personal Growth. Comprehensive development programs, training, and coaching.
  • Dog-Friendly Office. Bring your furry friend to work.
