Equipment Engineer

About the Role

As an Equipment Engineer at KFC, you will execute and support our equipment strategy across multiple Business Market Units (BMUs).
Your work ensures operational efficiency, maintains high food quality and safety standards, and contributes directly to overall business performance.
Success in this role impacts system reliability, profitability, and the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Strategy Execution (80%)

  • Implement the Strategic Engineering Roadmap, aligning with global standards and regional needs.
  • Customize and deploy equipment solutions for BMU-specific challenges to maintain operational continuity.
  • Monitor equipment KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives with BMUs and franchisees.
  • Engage with senior franchisee leadership to ensure alignment and smooth adoption of engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to validate new or enhanced equipment through reviews and field-testing programs.

Engineering Growth / Accelerator (10%)

  • Lead engineering efforts for regional Growth Accelerators.
  • Drive Back-of-House (BOH) design and equipment development for next-generation restaurants.
  • Partner with Digital and Technology teams to optimize service standards for Drive-Thru, In-Restaurant, and Delivery.
  • Innovate new equipment solutions, supporting the entire process from ideation to global implementation.
  • Enable equipment connectivity to restaurant management and support technologies.

Engineering Strategy Development (10%)

  • Co-develop forward-looking engineering strategies with Global Operations, aligned to KFC’s innovation and expansion goals.
  • Pilot and scale emerging equipment technologies to improve efficiency, quality, sustainability, and safety.
  • Lead global equipment training programs to ensure capability and consistency across BMUs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regional suppliers and manufacturers to support innovation and market readiness.

Qualifications

Education

  • College degree required; Engineering degree preferred.
  • MBA is a plus.

Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably with restaurant equipment.
  • International experience preferred.
  • Safety-first mindset with strong technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven track record in developing end-to-end equipment solutions (cooking equipment expertise preferred).
  • Cross-functional collaboration and project management experience.
  • Ability to execute strategy and drive sustained growth.
  • Strong franchisee collaboration skills and ability to lead without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $107,000 – $120,000 annually + bonus eligibility (location, experience, and other factors considered).
