Your Role

As an Automation Engineer – Insights & Retrieval, you will build intelligent data solutions to power Statista’s next-generation analytics and AI products. Your work will focus on scalable pipelines, advanced data retrieval, and automation systems that unlock deep insights and enable real-time content generation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design Intelligent Data Pipelines: Build high-performance pipelines that connect structured and unstructured data sources with advanced retrieval logic.
  • Automate Insights Delivery: Develop automation systems for real-time, large-scale delivery of insights – from rule-based queries to AI-generated content.
  • Empower AI Workflows: Ensure seamless access to data via APIs and integrations, supporting AI features such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Innovate and Optimize: Continuously improve automation strategies, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to scale content delivery and system performance.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Data Engineering Expertise: Solid experience in DataOps, backend development, or data engineering with scalable system design.
  • Python & SQL Mastery: Strong programming skills for data processing and backend automation.
  • API Development: Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks to build robust, user-friendly APIs.
  • Cloud Platform Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms for scalable infrastructure deployment.
  • Modern DevOps: Proficiency in Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
  • AI & NLP Skills: Experience or curiosity in AI/ML tools (e.g. LangChain, RAG, LLMs, agents) and prompt engineering.
  • Continuous Innovation: A passion for exploring new technologies in AI-driven data systems and applying them to real-world solutions.
