About the Role

As Managing Director, you’ll take full operational ownership and lead the company into its next stage of growth. This hands-on leadership role combines strategic direction with day-to-day execution. You’ll inherit a functioning product, stable team, and healthy balance sheet — your mission is to professionalise, optimise, and scale the business.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across all departments, driving alignment, efficiency, and execution of business goals.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for investors, ensuring structured updates and transparent communication.
  • Collaborate with the founder during the transition phase and gradually assume ownership of the product roadmap.
  • Oversee financial planning, performance tracking, and budgeting to support data-driven decision making.
  • Manage and grow a small, cross-functional team including the CTO, developers, and business development staff.
  • Professionalise internal systems and processes to prepare for future due diligence or acquisition.
  • Drive revenue through optimisation of affiliate and ad partnerships and exploration of new monetisation channels.
  • Shape and implement international expansion strategies.
  • Coordinate with external marketing freelancers and partners to execute new growth initiatives.

Your Profile

  • Experience in early-stage or lean startup environments — ideally in consumer tech, affiliate, or marketplace businesses.
  • Strong financial acumen and data analysis skills, with a solid grasp of forecasting.
  • Effective communicator and trusted relationship-builder with stakeholders and investors.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to execute operational tasks independently.
  • Experience leading small teams and working cross-functionally in high-velocity settings.
  • Structured, self-motivated, and resourceful—thrives in ambiguity and moves fast.
  • Comfortable engaging with tech and product teams and contributing to product and technical discussions.
  • Berlin-based or willing to spend significant time in Berlin for hands-on leadership.
