Principal Network Developer

Job Description

Join Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to design, deploy, and operate one of the world’s largest cloud networks. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the core fabric that supports millions of servers across a global footprint. As a Senior Network Development Engineer (IC4), you’ll combine deep networking knowledge with programming skills to drive automation and reliability across a massive infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead lifecycle management programs, define high-level objectives, and coordinate project milestones
  • Act as a technical lead for network design and delivery, often managing multiple engineers and cross-functional collaboration
  • Drive and audit architectural decisions, provide Tier 2 escalation support, and lead root cause analyses for large-scale issues
  • Design network solutions involving complex modules with supporting automation and monitoring tools
  • Develop scripts and systems for automating operational and infrastructure tasks
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and help shape technical direction for the team
  • Collaborate with vendors on hardware issues, participate in RFQs/RFPs, and lead the adoption of new hardware platforms
  • Engage with internal product teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with evolving service requirements
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives and represent your team across engineering and leadership

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP
  • Strong background in network architecture, monitoring, and lifecycle management
  • Experience with large-scale commodity Ethernet hardware and data center networks
  • Hands-on network automation experience (Python preferred)
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and security/compliance practices
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project coordination skills
  • Track record in developing product roadmaps and scaling network operations
  • Familiarity with vendor engagement and managing hardware life cycles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure roles

Compensation

US Hiring Range: $109,200 – $223,400 per year

May include eligibility for bonus and equity. Placement within range based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
