Work Schedule

  • Days: Wednesday – Saturday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST

About the Role

This is a high-impact, individual contributor role within the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT). As part of a 24/7/365 operation, you will analyze, investigate, and contain security incidents, improving threat detection and response across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor security technologies for incident alerts and potential threats
  • Analyze cybersecurity events across On-Premises and Cloud environments
  • Consult on and implement security engineering initiatives
  • Improve alerting capabilities by reviewing security tools
  • Generate incident reports and security recommendations
  • Mentor and train junior analysts during complex investigations
  • Lead remediation of affected assets, indicators of compromise (IOCs), and threat tactics
  • Collaborate with teams across Cyber Defense, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and Architecture
  • Influence new standards, procedures, and security control recommendations
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvements
  • On-call responsibilities may be required

Required Qualifications

  • Willingness to obtain cybersecurity certification within 9 months of hire
  • 4+ years in IT Security or Cybersecurity, with experience in areas such as:
    • Security Incident Response
    • Email Security
    • Data Protection/Governance
    • Threat Detection, Monitoring, or Intelligence
    • Vulnerability Management
  • Ability to obtain NAC clearance
  • Willingness to work off-shift hours, including nights and weekends
  • Experience analyzing threat vectors and remediation strategies
  • Knowledge of SIEM, EDR, asset isolation tools, and networking protocols (OSI, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with global privacy regulations (GDPR, NY Cyber, CERT-In, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISA, GCIH, CEH, CHFI, CCSP, SEC+, Net+, A+
  • Spanish language skills
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, KQL, Python)
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-61, MITRE ATT&CK, and Cyber Kill Chain frameworks

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $89,800 – $176,700 annually (based on full-time employment)

Compensation depends on location, experience, education, and qualifications. Optum offers a competitive total rewards package, including salary, bonus opportunities, benefits, equity stock purchase plans, and 401(k) contributions.
