Job Opportunity

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is looking for an experienced Manager, Data and Reporting to join our globally focused, Boston-based, Actuarial Reporting team. The ideal candidate will excel in both management and technical skills to query and analyze data. As a Manager, you will oversee a small team of data analysts and collaborate across functions, ensuring that data initiatives are effectively driven and executed. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is intellectually curious, self-motivated, and a collaborative team member.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize SQL to identify, extract, interpret, and analyze data for reporting and analysis.
  • Proactively engage with actuaries and business units to understand reporting requirements and translate them into meaningful output.
  • Drive data-related initiatives across multiple platforms for audiences across all products, regions, and management to support business needs and underwriting results.
  • Perform data validations and reconciliations between various sources and reports, ensuring deliverables are accurate and effective.
  • Coordinate the integration of various data sources into a central repository through testing, documentation, and execution of strategy.
  • Provide technical support to actuaries and underwriters using SQL, Excel, PowerBI, etc.
  • Develop, grow, and retain a small team of data analysts.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of analytical experience, with preference for experience in the insurance industry.
  • 1+ years of management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel required.
  • Experience in Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, R, and Python programming preferred.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and experience working within complex data environments.
  • Proven track record of collaboration across functions to deliver quality results efficiently.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a passion for analyzing large volumes of data to generate insights.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and on teams.
  • Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation

The base salary for this position in Boston, MA is $115,000 – $145,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation is determined by relevant skills, location, and experience. We value our teammates and demonstrate this through a strong, positive culture.
